One big thing that can keep you from eating healthy is the idea of the food. People often think it sucks and doesn’t taste good. That is the best thing of not dieting, the food tastes great. And since eating healthy is a “non-diet” the food also tastes great, often better than junk food. Have you ever had a strawberry that was so good it was almost orgasmic?

People get caught up in comparing the old food they used to eat to the new food they are now eating. Don’t do this. Do not get caught up in trying to find something that tastes like your old favorite thing. Here is a little secret, the natural healthy food will not taste the same. It will taste better, if you let it. Let me explain what I mean with a story.

My friend was eating an apple, and after a bite or two, she put the apple down and was going to throw it away. It was one of the worst apples she had ever eaten, she said. Don’t ask me why, but I wanted to taste the worst apple ever. I took a bite, and it tasted pretty good to me. And then I had a thought. If I ate the apple expecting an apple taste, it was pretty bad. In fact, horrible. But when I tasted the apple for the taste it had, without comparing it to anything else, it was fine. In fact, the apple was pretty good. My friend, who just a moment ago was going to throw the apple out, tasted it again. When she didn’t compare it to what she thought an apple should taste like, she thought it was pretty good as well.

If you try to compare the new food you are eating to things you’ve eaten in the past, it will not be the same. It is not the same. But if you actually taste the new food you are eating for the food it is, you will find it is just as good, if not better, than the food you used to eat. Fresh and pure food always tastes better than toxic food, if you taste the food for what it is without comparing it to what you used to eat.

Find your new favorite foods from healthy selections and the food you eat will taste great.

Switching to a Low Cholesterol Diet

Who doesn’t crave for health? Who doesn’t want to have his sandwich with an extra layer of mayonnaise without caring about the girth around the waist? And who doesn’t want to stop thinking about what to eat and what not to? Surely, in addition to all that, we also want to have rippling muscles. But leave that for later because in today’s hectic life it’s difficult to find time and energy for a regular jog, let alone pumping iron Arnie style.

If I were to advise adopting a healthy lifestyle I am sure it would sound like an oft-suggested-never-followed kind of an advise, which it surely is. But the fact is, nothing helps better than a healthy lifestyle with some form of regular physical activity thrown in. It not only keeps one fit but also helps reduce one’s risk of disease, especially heart ailments. Cholesterol is considered to be the erring element.

One of the effective ways to reduce blood cholesterol is to combine regular physical activity with low cholesterol diet. A diet with low cholesterol may include foods with high fiber and vitamin content, and must be low on fat. Now going low on fat does not mean that you shun fat altogether because fat is an important requirement for the healthy functioning of the body. They help the body in digestion and excretion.

As indicated earlier, a low fat diet alone will not be sufficient to substantially reduce your chances of a heart stroke. For that you must exercise a bit. This is not to say that you join the fancy neighborhood gym. Exercise may just comprise of half an hour of brisk walking or light jogging in the morning or in the evening. Mornings are better because at that time the air has more oxygen which is healthy for every single cell in your body. That’s the reason why nothing matches a morning of vigorous activity.

Cut down on smoking and if possible quit it. Moderate drinking may not be harmful but if you tend to get carried away and often cross the delicate boundary between light and heavy drinking, it’s better that you keep clear of alcohol altogether.

For those who have a family history of cholesterol related problems it is important to be extra cautious, as they are more likely to have cholesterol accumulation.

Autism Vaccine? – Could My Child’s Autism Have Been Caused by a Vaccine?

It is a sad but true fact; many more children are being diagnosed with autism each year. Autism comes in many different forms, but regardless of the symptoms it causes; it is a very serious and life-altering disorder, both for the parents or caregivers of the child, and obviously, the child itself. Some of the children who have autism don’t develop social skills as they should, and have a hard time interacting with other people, adults and children. Some autistic children have difficulty with repetitive behaviors, and others even have language problems, affecting the way they communicate. Some people only have mild cases of autism, and are able to fully function in modern society, while others require constant care for the rest of their lives. Many doctors and researchers have theorized that there is a significant link between autism and vaccines, but currently there is no hard evidence to prove such a link.

There have been several research studies done over the years, trying to determine the exact cause of autism, but to date, no one has been able to definitively prove that autism is caused by childhood vaccinations. In fact, at one time autism was believed to be linked specifically to the measles vaccine, and a study was conducted in 1997 to verify that fact. Just the opposite was proved, evidence was found that clearly proved that there was no way that autism could be caused by the measles vaccine, not was it to blame for any other type of neurological disorder or malady.

Another study was done in 1998, trying again to prove a link between common childhood vaccines and autism, but no links were found. This study did claim to find proof that some intestinal deformities and developmental delays often began shortly after being vaccinated with the MMR vaccine, but this study came under fire in the medical community. One of the problems that this study came under fire for was the fact that the data was based only on 12 test subjects, and that none of them were healthy to begin with. When approached with this information, the researchers who were involved in the study retracted their claims, and the study was declared invalid.

Currently, although there is still a lot of suspicion surrounding the subject, there has been no concrete evidence found linking autism to childhood vaccines in any way. In fact, there are studies being conducted at this moment, trying to prove that autism is in fact caused by a genetic element, but it is still in process, and no results have been released as of yet.

Though many parents will research and hear about childhood immunizations and autism, the risks are far worse for your children if they receive no vaccines at all. There is no research to date that proves any kind of link between the two, so you shouldn’t really be concerned with it at this point. If you do have worries or fears about the vaccines, talk to your child’s pediatrician, or do some research on the subject. Just make certain that you also consider the illnesses and diseases that your child could be stricken with if he or she doesn’t get their immunizations, and then make an educated decision based on the information you have gathered. You can bet that as cautious as medical professionals are when it comes to children, if there was any real concern about a vaccine actually causing something as serious as autism, something would be done about it, and the vaccine would no longer be given.
