Cholesterol Lowering Supplement – Our Cholesterol Lowering Supplement Of Choice

With none of the nasty side effects associated with prescription medications, the cholesterol lowering supplement used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program is a powerful tool. Some of these supplements will actually help you to extend your life by insuring against poor health. The science of herbals supplements is as old as mankind and the implications of this longevity are astounding.

Natural Ingredients vs. Man-Made Chemicals.

An important thing to remember about the cholesterol lowering supplement is that some of these substances contain man-made chemical ingredients. This could pose a problem, as these chemicals are not good for the body. They may be touted as the finest thing available but generally a few years down the road, it is discovered that these chemicals cause all sorts of health problems.

The best type of cholesterol lowering supplement is that which contains only natural ingredients. These ingredients, when used in specific combinations have been shown to produce better results than many statin drugs. Statin drugs are those which are generally prescribed as a first line for lowering cholesterol. As an added benefit, these natural ingredients are not associated with any of the side effects commonly associated with prescription drugs.

Greed vs. Good Health

Some of the natural ingredients that have been shown to lower cholesterol are extracts of sugar cane, soy, citrus families, and rice. When combined in one easy to take herbal cholesterol lowering supplement, the singular benefits of each of these substances is magnified. The expected outcome of this benefit magnification is realized in a healthier body and lower cholesterol. When combined with a healthy diet comprised of natural unprocessed foods and a healthy exercise program, cholesterol will cease to be a concern or a serious health issue.

A great place to start the search for these supplements would be with the fine herbals produced in New Zealand.

Modern medicine seems to be more concerned about making money than it is about helping people. The speed in which new prescription medications are released makes it quite doubtful that they go through all the testing phases correctly. Further, it has been found in some cases that doctors receive bonuses in the form of travel vouchers and other amenities for prescribing certain medications, making it doubly suspicious. Exploring all options could perhaps be the best course of action when concerned about personal health. Depending on doctors, sometimes, is like depending on the proverbial used car salesman, the information given may not be the whole truth. It might be just enough to make the sale.

Nummular Eczema

Eczema is a skin disease that often runs in families. It is generally caused by stress and contact with certain chemicals or allergens. The word “nummular” is taken from the Latin word nummus, which means a small coin. Nummular eczema is in the form of coin shaped patches. It is an allergy-related skin disorder that causes itchy patches. These patches are commonly seen on the arms, back, buttocks and lower legs. They generally form crusts and are extremely itchy. It is also known by an alternative name, called nummular dermatitis.

Nummular eczema is generally a chronic, recurring condition. Exposure to environmental irritants, temperature changes and stress worsens its state. The cause of nummular eczema is unknown. It is an uncommon disorder, but occurs mostly in elderly men.

The symptoms of nummular eczema are itchiness and the formation of skin lesions that appear as pustules or patches. Scaly skin and redness or inflammations are other usual symptoms. It is diagnosed based on the appearance of the skin and on personal and family history. A skin biopsy may sometimes be needed to exclude other conditions with a similar appearance.

The cause of nummular eczema is unknown. Treatment is largely directed at relief of the major symptoms of itching and burning. Topical treatments are used to treat nummular eczema. The treatment includes that application of soothing lotions, soaps, or wet dressings. Mild antipruritic lotions or topical steroids are used to soothe scaly, dry, less acute or healing areas. Chronic areas are treated with ointments or creams that contain tar or corticosteroids that are lubricating and skin softening.

Nummular eczema is a chronic condition, but it can be controlled with proper treatment. Possible complications are secondary infections of the skin. There is no known way to prevent the disorder. Avoiding environmental irritants and other aggravating factors may reduce the severity of symptoms in people who have nummular eczema.

Determining Diabetes, Its Causes and Symptoms

Almost anyone can be afflicted with diabetes. It is a medical disorder that affects the blood sugar level of a person resulting to different complications. Amazingly, while diabetes can be prevented or slowed down, there are lots of people in America who has this disorder, around 25 million of them.

The human body generates insulin, a fluid that has the main task of maintaining the sugar level in our blood. With diabetes, there is not enough insulin that is generated to do its job. As the sugar levels increase in our blood, many complications arise.

Diabetics experience symptoms such as urinating frequently, increased fluid intake and feeling thirsty all the time. The body also feels exhausted and tired frequently and the vision is altered. The breath of a diabetic also experiences a change in odor; a distinct “acetone” smell can be noticed.

Diabetes is blamed on a couple of reasons. This may include having the disease through genetics. Parents or family members that have a history of diabetes would likely have another in the gene pool that would have this disorder.

Other causes rely heavily on a person’s lifestyle and eating habits. If a person is fat and lacks exercise, there is a great chance that he would have diabetes. Excess intake of sweets and carbohydrate-packed foods can also lead to diabetes.

Diabetes has different types and has different treatments. But generally, doctors would recommend a diabetic to get lots of exercise and to avoid sweets, candies, excessive meat intake, eggs, milk and fatty foods. Alcohol and smoking is also a big no-no. A doctor can recommend a full list of what you can eat as well as the recommended amount and quantity.

A major symposium about vagus nerve stimulation as a treatment for chronic or recurrent depression will be presented at the American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting in May. This is the largest gathering of psychiatrists in the world and over 25,000 psychiatrists will be in attendance.

On February 3, 2005, the FDA deemed vagus nerve stimulation(VNS Therapy) approvable as a treatment for chronic or recurrent treatment-resistant depression. The formal launch of VNS Therapy will take place at this meeting of the leading psychiatrists in the world. The manufacturer of the vagus nerve stimulator, Cyberonics Inc., will have a major symposium on the topic of VNS Therapy as a treatment for depression.

VNS is not related to brain surgery or electroconvulsive therapy. There is no cognitive impairment( i.e. memory loss) or interactions with drugs. The sixty-minute procedure is usually performed in an out-patient hospital and the recovery process is less than five days.

The book: Out of the Black Hole: The Patient’s Guide to Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Depression will be exhibited at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in May. The book is available at www.VagusNerveStimulator.com, Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
It is written by a patient, who suffered from severe chronic depression and was implanted with the stimulator in the FDA investigational trial. The therapy completely changed his life.

Penis Enlargement – Does Size Really Matter?

June 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on penis health and Safe Penis Enlargement. It is based on research done over a number of years as well as reviewing countless sites and content. I know exactly how sensitive this subject is and as a personal coach I fully appreciate the value of improving your self confidence and self esteem. I sincerely hope you find the following information of value as well as address the challenges that people have with this subject.

Penis Enlargement – Does Size Really Matter?

Ever since sex was discovered, this is probably the most commonly asked question of all time.

Visit the library, a museum, a bookshop or the internet and study ancient history and cultures across the world.. Look for pictures of artifacts and symbols of manhood, virility or even power. If you don’t find images of men on jugs, statues and other objects where the man is displayed as having a huge penis, I would be very, very surprised.

The size of a man’s penis continues to be a huge concern for men, and women, alike. Most men obsess whether having big penises make them more manly and thus better lovers. In reality, a large penis is not always synonymous with being a great lover. In truth, however, the perception is exactly that.

Furthermore, research seems to indicate that a man’s fear emanates from male vanity rather than the pleasure it will give a woman. It’s actually the fear of being exposed as a having a small penis that worries most men.

Some men feel having a small penis is a reflection of low standing and low self-worth. He feels impotent, has low self confidence and feels less of a man than others. To many this may seem ridiculous but we are not talking about logical argument here. We are talking about perception, the power of our individual minds, and the oh so real messages that our minds send us on a daily basis.

When it comes to penises, many cultures – both ancient and modern – have considered bigger to be better. Unsurprisingly, this obsession about penis size has seen the amazing growth (no pun intended) of a competitive, large and lucrative industry across the world, solely devoted to sexual prowess and penis enlargement.

There is a wide range of penis enlargement products, methods and procedures that you can opt for, ranging from the ridiculous to the downright dangerous. You must be wary of businesses promoting and advertising untested and unsafe penis enlargement methods and programs.
The other concern I have is that men may be damaging the health of their penis, sacrificing their current sexual prowess and sexual activity by following ill advised penis enlargement techniques.

By far, the better penis enlargement systems and techniques are those which safely and steadily lead to long term penis enlargement as well as protecting, and in a few cases, even enhancing those critical areas of sexual performance, long lasting erections, sperm count and, above all, sustained pleasure.

The best penis enlargement companies, however, are those that also provide true value-added by providing first class customer support in dealing with this sensitive subject. Some will go even further and provide the facility for customers to share their experiences and help each other (real belief in their products and services).

We have years of experience dealing with this sensitive subject, we know which techniques are effective and which products can actually achieve the aims they promise. We have helped thousands of people like you to choose the right product and achieve the success they have longed for.

You and you alone can make the decision – continue as is or make the commitment today to start living the lifestyle of your dreams. Know that both your physical and mental well being will improve as well as your self esteem. Motivate yourself. Make the effort to achieve your goals. Look and feel the person you want to be – you deserve it.

Hyperhidrosis also known as excessive sweating is not a commonly recognized disease, in fact only a small percentage of people having this problem are seeking medical help, but in reality this problem affects millions of people around the globe. This problem is a very serious medical condition where excessive sweating occurs on particular body parts with high concentration of sweat glands like the feet, palms, groin area and especially the underarms. Hyperhidrosis will not stop unless treatment for excessive sweating is applied.

If treatment for excessive sweating is not considered by sufferers humiliation and low self-esteem will be experienced. Jobs and efficiency are also affected with this disease. How would you shake the hands of your business associates when your own hands are sweating excessively? This disease has negative effects in your personal and social life. How would you feel if you sweat excessively underarms while in a group? Imagine the humiliation and embarrassment you will experience and worst people will make fun of you. Hyperhidrosis also promotes the development of skin infections and unpleasant body odors. How would you mingle with people if you are sweating excessively and worst coupled with unpleasant odors? You need to find the best treatment for excessive sweating to end all your miseries.

Treatment for excessive sweating

Oral Medication as treatment for excessive sweating. Robinul, ditropan and probathine have anti cholinergic effect which blocks the neurotransmitter causing excessive sweating. Although these medications are not labeled as treatment for hyperhidrosis, known effects of these medication is to promote dryness. Dry mouth, blurry vision and palpitation are some of the reported side effects of these drugs.

Lotions, absorbent powders and antiperspirant. Dermatologist may prescribe lotion and absorbent powders to keep the palms and armpits dry. Excessive armpit sweating can be controlled at some degree by antiperspirant but with high concentration of aluminum chloride. Nighttime or twice per day application may help and give relief for a week, however if skin irritation appears, this must be stopped. Although these treatments may help with excessive sweating, they are not permanent treatment for excessive sweating.

Botulinum toxin (botox) is also a treatment for excessive sweating. It was first applied for the treatment of eye muscles spasms then popularly known for the treatment of wrinkles. But at the same time, it was observed that decreased sweating occurs on the areas injected by botox, thus further investigation leads to the treatment of hyperhidrosis. It blocks the release of acetylcholine causing excessive sweating. This treatment is very expensive but 90% effective and will last for 7 months. Bruising, occasional bleeding, muscle weakness and certain allergic reactions are some of the side effects of botox.

Iontophoresis. This is a non surgical treatment for excessive sweating. This is the process of exposing the affected areas like the hands, feet and armpits through a controlled electrical current to stop excessive sweating. Skin irritation and dermatitis are some of the side effects of this procedure.

Endoscopic Thoracic Surgery (ETS). This is a surgery treatment for excessive sweating where specific part of upper thoracic region of sympathetic nervous system responsible for excessive sweating are removed or destroyed. Although this procedure eliminates excessive sweating on hands, feet and armpits, possible side effects is compensatory hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating on other body parts such as the stomach and the back which could be a problem in the future.

There are people who have found relief on the above mentioned treatment for excessive sweating. However, if you have tried some of those treatments but find no relief and afraid to try any surgery for excessive sweating, the best option is to try a natural way to stop excessive sweating.

Did you know that regardless of what you may have tried, you can reduce underarm, hand, face, foot and overall sweating by 95% quickly, easily and naturally? Say “Goodbye” to the Dreaded Weight Loss Plateau

June 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Dieters dread the plateau. You’re on a roll, losing weight steadily and happily for weeks. Your confidence is high and your goal is in sight. Then suddenly your scale freezes. No matter how hard you try, those extra pounds just refuse to budge. You’ve hit a wall and you know the frustration of seeing no progress could easily lead you to gain back what you’ve lost. So how do you break through the plateau?

It’s perfectly normal for a dieter to reach a plateau. The trick is to use it as an opportunity to double up your efforts and get really clear on your strategy to carry you through to the finish line. Below you’ll find suggestions that can help you recommit to your program and re-ignite the weight-loss process when you feel challenged.

1. Get clear on your ultimate weight-loss goal.

Be sure that your weight-loss goal is realistic and that your expected rate of weight loss is reasonable. If you are on a heath enhancing, nutritionally rich weight loss program you can expect to loss one to two pounds a week. Each body has its own ideal weight and size. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, but listen to your body and notice what feels best for you. A simple way to approximate your ideal weight is by referring to a Body Mass Index chart.

2. Go high-protein, low carbs.

Unless you are eating enough protein to maintain your lean muscle mass, you are likely to have lost weight already from both your fat stores and muscle. Women need to eat approximately 100grams of protein a day and men 150 grams in order to preserve their muscle tissue during a weight loss program. If you have lost some muscle during your weight loss program so far you will need to focus on protein so your body can build muscle, which requires more calories to sustain, which will in turn, kick start your weight loss again. Needless to say, any weight loss program you choose should be one that preserves your body’s muscle and this does not happen!

3. Add resistance training to your program.

A wonderful way to boost your metabolism and break through to the next level of weight loss is by incorporating aerobic exercise into your program, such as 30 minutes of walking three to four times a week. (If you are 35 years or older, or haven’t exercised regularly, begin with 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a week.) In addition, weight training with free weights or machines several times a week can help increase muscle mass, which in turn allows you to burn more calories faster. Studies show that weight training can increase your metabolism overnight by five to 10 percent. Working out can increase your metabolism for up to 21 hours after an intense workout.

4. Look out for hidden carbohydrates.

If your weight loss progress seems slow, look out for carbohydrates that might be sneaking their way unnoticed into your diet. Sugar can lurk in the most unexpected places such as ketchup, salad dressings, teriyaki and barbecue sauces. Watch out too for cornstarch, sugar or milk solids in many processed foods such as gravies, or sauces on frozen vegetables. Be especially careful about “low-fat” foods where flavor is enhanced by sugar and other carbohydrates. Try keeping a diet journal for a couple of days of EVERYTHING you eat and drink. You may quickly discover the hidden carbs that are keeping your weight-loss progress stuck and be able to eliminate them and move past your plateau.

5. Take the “refinement” out of your diet.

Try eliminating all refined sugar and refined grains from your diet. This includes white bread, pastries, pasta, white rice, white flour crackers, sugar-coated breakfast cereals, cookies and cake. This simple step can encourage a huge weight-loss breakthrough and leave you feeling more healthy and energized in the process.

6. Don’t go hungry.

Cutting back on how often you eat can have a negative impact on your diet plateau. Many studies show that small, frequent meals are more satisfying and produce better weight-loss results than the same number of calories consumed in three large meals. Take advantage of healthy snacking and crunch on fresh slices of raw vegetables like celery, peppers, cucumber and jicama when you’re hungry.

7. Drink to burn up.

It’s vitally important to replenish your fluids by drinking plenty of water on your weight loss program. An inadequate supply of water in itself can slow down your weight-loss. Carry water with you wherever you go throughout the day. For additional weight-management benefits, add a high quality aloe concentrate to your water to help keep your digestion in top shape. Also, a probiotic supplement can help us maintain a healthy intestinal flora. Keeping well hydrated not only helps you burn fat efficiently, it also helps control hunger.

8. Keep your incentive strong.

Remember the determination you felt when you first began your weight-loss program? Remember the excitement of watching the pounds drop one by one? Go back to whatever your initial motivation was and see whether it still works for you. It may have been the desire to lose weight for a particular event or to regain your figure after pregnancy. You may have been motivated by poor health or by the shock of just how much weight you had gained. See whether the same motivation still has juice for you. If not, choose a new one. Keep a picture of yourself looking great (or bad!) on your refrigerator as a daily reminder of where you are heading.

Universal Laws of Yoga – Part 3

June 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Why do some religious fundamentalists fear Yoga?

For many non-practitioners of Yoga, it is Intolerance for something they do not understand. This seems harmless at first, but cries of witchcraft are never a good omen. However, every method of healing has its critics.

Yoga has also been accused of being a “launching point” to export Hinduism. This is very interesting, considering the large numbers of Yoga practitioners who are not Hindus. Some Yogis and Yoginis do convert to Hinduism, but the “calling” had to come from within themselves. Within North America, most Yoga teachers are not Hindus at all and I have yet to witness religious conversion in progress.

For fundamentalist Hindus that believe Yoga and Hinduism cannot be separate, sorry to break the news, but it has already happened. Yoga was interpreted in many ways by a variety of cultures and partial facets of Yoga have grown independently. Some Hatha Yoga styles do not even practice meditation.

Yoga students outside India, pick and choose what they want to learn from Yoga. At this time, physical mastery seems to be most popular. This is why Yoga teachers outside India focus primarily on physical health. Many western students think only of Hatha Yoga, when they hear the word “Yoga.”

This is why Yoga cannot really be controlled, regulated, or patented. How do you control people’s thoughts, actions, physical practice, prayers, meditation, or songs? The whole concept of controlling Yoga is ludicrous.

Fundamentalists of different religions work together, quite by accident, to divide the world’s religions into mobs of intolerance. Their real fear is loss of control. So they speak in “absolutes.” For example: “You will burn in hell, if you do not, do as I say” and “All of the non-believers are going to Hell.”

The real problem with Yoga, for the fundamentalist of any religion, is that it can be practiced by anyone from any religion. Yoga is not exclusive: The laws are universal and interchangeable with every religion. This allows a Yoga practitioner to work independently on his or her spiritual health and work toward enlightenment.

What is wrong with working toward the common good? The idea of working toward enlightenment and self-perfection are considered blasphemy to some. However, can you imagine a world where men and women did not try to improve themselves?

The objectives of Yoga are complete heath, self-improvement, self realization, and tranquility. With these benefits acquired any Yoga practitioner can help others and work for the common good.

How To Get Rid Of Whiteheads Can Be Answered By Knowing The Causes Of Acne

June 28, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

The development of acne has a very close connection with the changes in hormones. How to get rid of whiteheads also known as pimples is a major concern for thousands of people. Certain studies have noted that people suffering from pimples often have oily skin due to the high level of androgen and testosterone hormones present on the body. This is one of the causes and dermatology plays a big role in the problem.

The belief on the acne and hormones connection holds that acne, which is influenced by hormones, often starts around the age of 18 to 23, thus it can affect both teens and mature women and this is why many of us are asking how to get rid of whiteheads.

The connection of hormones further holds the idea that acne typically starts to appear when the body starts to produce androgen hormones which leads to pimples. It is basically the androgens that incite the sebaceous glands to enlarge and emit sebum. It is merely the blocked follicles of your skin which become the breeding area for bacteria resulting in acne also known as whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. Psoriasis is another name for the problem.

When asking how to get rid of whiteheads it is worth noting that hormones basically regulate every function of the body particularly the skin. The connection between acne and hormones also explains the occurrence of acne whiteheads in teens as well as in adults. In teens, it is commonly noted that during the onset of puberty, androgens are produced which holds a major role in the development of pimples. And in place of the adult, the acne and hormones are believed that the menstrual cycle of every woman plays a role in its development.

Acne and progesterone are two major concepts that bothered most of the medical professionals as they talked about the causes and treatments of acne.

As you may know, getting rid of whiteheads is a common chronic skin disorder that affects millions of people of every age, gender, and race. Remember you are not alone when it comes to pimples. In fact, almost ninety percent of the world’s total populations are victims of acne. This is why so many people are asking how to get rid of whiteheads.

According to certain studies, acne and progesterone shows a certain connection in terms of causes and treatment for pimples. The connection between acne and progesterone appears to be more evident with the fact that progesterone is deemed as one of the factors that trigger the formation and development of acne, while others have considered that progesterone is necessary for fighting it.

Many have thought that acne and progesterone are in a close bond as progesterone helps to eliminate acne. This is one of the reasons that you may see some products out there highlighting progesterone as a treatment for acne and whiteheads. However, many still deemed that progesterone is but one of the minor factors that trigger the formation of pimples and is not the only cause.

Whatever the findings are, acne is but a chronic skin disorder that needs personal attention on a daily basis. Be sure to get the facts when asking how to get rid of whiteheads.

Are you Flushing Your Vitamins Down the Toilet?

June 28, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

People who clean out those portable toilets know the truth about vitamin and mineral pills. Many of them report seeing the remnants of partially digested vitamin and mineral capsules at the bottom of the porta-potties, some with the name of the pill manufacturer still on them! Do you think the people who took those vitamins realize they have literally flushed their vitamin pills and money down the toilet?

Out of the millions of nutritional supplements available on the market today, how do you know that the one you are using is worth the money you are spending on it? New technology can help you make the most of your vitamin and mineral supplement purchase.

There are 3 ways to judge if your vitamin and mineral supplement is worth the money you are spending on it: the quality of the raw materials, how well your body absorbs it and the ORAC score.

First, your nutritional supplement must be produced with quality raw materials. The only requirement FDA places on supplements is that it contain at least a trace of the vitamin, mineral or herb that is named on the label. If your supplement is really cheap, you might want to investigate how much of the ingredient you want is in there. Many discount vitamin makers will just use one little leaf per bottle of supplement with fillers added to make it look good.

Second, the Physician’s Desk reference says that only 10% of the nutrients in traditional vitamin and mineral pills and capsules are absorbed by your body. It must be digested first to be in a form that your body can use. Liquid nutritional supplements are an improvement over pills and capsules but they can’t be completely absorbed by the body either because they go through the digestive process as well. The nutrients are not in a small enough form to be absorbed by the body but they are better than pills and capsules.

Third, the ORAC score can tell if your nutritional supplement is strong enough to do what it says it will do. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It is a “definitive test for assessing the anti-oxidant strength of potential antioxidant compounds.” So, the higher the ORAC score, the stronger the antioxidant capability of the compound. To give you an example of this, fresh fruits and vegetables were given an ORAC score of 800. That means they are capable of delivering a strong antioxidant effect on the free radicals that produced by your body.

Eating fruits and vegetables with a high ORAC score may help the aging process in the human body and brain, according to studies done at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston. Right now, only 2 liquid nutritional supplements are available that deliver a higher ORAC score than fruits and vegetables.

When it comes to vitamins and minerals, you really do get what you pay for. Investigate your choice in vitamin and mineral supplements to make sure that the one you choose are of the highest quality and completely absorbable by your body.
